KS2 School Session

Set amidst the inspiring surroundings of Flag Fen Archaeology Park, our ‘Who were the Vikings?’ day is an exciting synergy of history and outdoor learning.

This session aims to debunk popular misconceptions about the Vikings and explores numerous aspects of life and culture in the Viking period.

Learning objectives:

By participating in this ‘Who were the Vikings?’ day, pupils will:

  • Explore popular misconceptions about the Vikings
  • Develop an understanding of life in Viking Britain
  • Gain historical understanding in relation to how we find out about the past through experimental archaeology and the use of primary sources
  • Understand historical concepts such as significance; continuity and change; cause and consequence and
    similarity and difference
  • Deduct and make statements and inferences from evidence
