Children’s parties at Flag Fen Archaeology Park provide quality experiences which are fun, creative and practical.

With a number of themes to choose from, or the option of creating a bespoke theme, we will work with you to create an unforgettable party everyone will enjoy.

Party themes

Woodland Magic

Magic is everywhere, if you know where to look for it. The Woodland Magic party brings the immersive magic of the forest to life with storytelling and hands on activities. Get busy setting the scene for the woodland fairy folk.

Activities include some or all of the following:

Storytelling

Clay craft
Nature crowns
Scavenger hunts
Mud cakes
Fairy homes
Magic wands

Who lives here?

Explore and discover who lives in the natural environment and habitats around us and learn how we can help to encourage wildlife to thrive.

Activities could include some or all of the following:

Bug hotels
Bug hunts and identification
Creating habitats
Create a birds nest
Leaf animals

Dinosaurs and Fossils

Step back in time and join us for a roar-some dinosaur themed party. You'll be exploring the woodland environment, hunting for clues and investigating fossils.

Activities include some or all of the following:

Create your own fossil
Dino hunt
Dinosaur footprints
Dinosaur nests
Storytelling

Rebellious Romans

Become an archaeologist in the Big Dig Tent and use tools to uncover artefacts which tell us more about the Romans and their everyday life.

Activities include:

Uncover artefacts in the Big Dig Tent
Handling Roman artefacts
Decorate a Roman shield

Choose from one of our party themes or create your own. We would be happy to work with you to create your bespoke birthday theme.

‘Who lives here?’, ‘Woodland Magic’ and ‘Dinosaurs and Fossils’ activities take place in the outdoor woodland area. If there are adverse weather conditions forecast such as heavy rain, lightning or freezing temperatures, then alternative indoor activities following the same theme can be provided. Please see our terms and conditions for more information.

We can also provide catering for your child's party!

Our children’s lunch boxes are available to pre-order, at £7.75 per child, and include the following:

Full sandwich (Various fillings available)
Character Drink
Sweet snack
Savoury snack
Fruit bag

Party FAQs

When can we book a party?

Parties can be booked on a Saturday or Sunday, from 10am-12pm or 1pm-3pm.

We may also have some availability during the school holidays (contact us for availability).

Duration of a party?

2 hours. Parties include activities led by a member of the Flag Fen team for approximately 75-90 minutes and room hire for the final 30-45 minutes for eating.

How much does your party package cost?

Minimum charge of £180 for up to 15 children. Additional children cost £10 each up to a maximum group size of 20 children. The price includes admission for 1 adult to attend with each party guest. Additional adults will be required to pay the general admission fee on the day.

Parent to child ratio?

Parents/carers are encouraged to stay for the duration of the party. Any children whose parents/carers do not stay will be the responsibility of the party organiser. Please ensure at least 3 adults stay with the group at all times.

What is the age recommendation?

Activities are recommended for children aged 4+. Please contact us if you would like to bring a group of children under 4 years.

What do the children need to bring / wear?

Please come in wellington boots or old trainers for the outdoor activities. Nothing you wouldn’t mind getting mucky.
Indoor shoes. If it is muddy, you will be asked to change into indoor shoes if you go into the Visitors Centre.
We recommend old clothing is worn – clothing that parents/carers would be happy for the children to get a little messy. We also recommend that legs are covered for outdoor activities.
Waterproof clothing in case of wet weather and enough layers including hat and gloves when seasonally appropriate.
Sunblock and a sun hat for warm sunny days, the woodland area is cool and shaded so ensure layers are packed even for warm days just in case.
You are welcome to bring a birthday/celebration cake, please remember to bring your own matches/lighter, candles, serviettes etc.
