Willow weaving
10.30am - 11.30am
In celebration of the 'Big Butterfly Count' (11 July - 4 August) children will be lead through a willow weaving session to make their very own Butterfly to take home with them and take pride of place!

Mini beast safari & Pond dipping
12pm - 12.45pm

Go on the hunt for creep-crawlies and discover their hiding places - plus see what little creatures you find beneath the water in the mere!

Bug Hotel making
12.45pm - 1.30pm

You've found their homes at Flag Fen, and now you know their creature comforts you can create your very own mini beast hotel to take home and place in the outdoors of your garden or space near your home.

Storytelling in the roundhouse
1.30pm - 2pm

Each day we will be telling the childhood favourite of the 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' by Eric Carle - perfect pit stop in the day to take a rest in a shady spot.

Sky high competition
2.30pm - 3.30pm

Bring along your rockets, kites or make the best super-sonic paper aeroplane to join in the sky-high flying competitions!

Bird spotting bingo! Families can enjoy a nature walk around the Mere, see if you can spot a Kingfisher or Heron. You can even try out the Bird Hide on your way round, and maybe get a sneak-peek at the wildlife on the Mere up close.

Follow the butterfly trail - Pick up a free trail sheet on arrival. Can you find them all hiding around the site?

Dig, dig, dig! Travel through time and learn about the past from what you unearth in one of the immersive dig pit simulations. Children can learn about the Romans, have a go at being a palaeontologist as they dig for fossils or relive the excavation of the Must Farm boats as they dig to discover a Bronze Age boat.

Visit and meet the charming resident Soay sheep

Visit the Museum. Discover fascinating exhibits and artifacts.

Build your own den and unleash your creativity in the great outdoors

Take a scenic walk around the beautiful mere and enjoy nature both high and low!
