Travel through time to discover what it was like to live in a real life Viking encampment. Explore a Viking burial, learn about the meals they ate and see the traditional woodworking, metalworking, cooking and weaving skills in action. Plus, there will be storytelling sessions each day for children too.

Visitors will be able to witness weapons, archery displays and a spectacular Skirmish with an opportunity to have a go at archery too! The highlight of each day will be the main battle re-enactment of King Cnut and the Battle of Assandun 1016.

The site is accessible for wheelchairs, mobility scooters and pushchairs. There is an accessible route from the visitor centre, to the Causeway preservation hall and Hudson Barn. The mere walk may not be suitable for buggies and wheelchairs in wet weather as it is a combination or grass and wood chip path surface.

There is an accessible car park, with ample spaces located very close to the main visitor centre.

Due to the abundance of wildlife around the site, only guide dogs can accompany their human companions.

A day out to remember - Enjoy our family-friendly walking trail, experience the reconstructed Bronze Age & Iron Age roundhouses, and hop and jump around the play area. Top it all off with a relaxing bite to eat, hot cuppa or treat in our Roundhouse Café.

Check out Flag Fen's self-led activities, which include:

  • Den building
  • The Big Dig Tent
  • Roundhouse play village
  • Play area
