Kick start your summer adventures and travel back nearly 2,000 years as Romans Life & Legends takes over Flag Fen Archaeology Park, 18 & 19 July, for an action-packed weekend of living history.
Across the site, living history groups will bring the ancient world to life through interactive demonstrations, hands-on activities and engaging storytelling, offering visitors of all ages the chance to discover what life was really like in Roman Britain.
Joined by members of LEGIO VIII AUGUSTA MGV, The Tungrians and LEG II AVC, visitors can immerse themselves in the sights and skills of the Roman world. Throughout the weekend, you can explore gladiator equipment, traditional crafts, watch fascinating coin-making demonstrations, learn Roman cooking techniques, witness military drills and archery displays, and examine authentic tools, weapons and equipment used during the period.
Young recruits can even train like Roman soldiers, putting their discipline and skills to the test through fun family activities inspired by the Roman army. Families can also try their hand at slingshot practice while discovering more about everyday life in Roman Britain.
Inside one of Flag Fen's reconstructed roundhouses, visitors can meet the legendary warrior queen Boudica. Hear her dramatic tales of rebellion, courage and resistance against Roman rule.
Adding another layer of adventure, storyteller Michelle Bullivant will entertain audiences throughout the weekend with captivating tales inspired by Roman myths, legends and everyday life.
